Goal Tips For Today

If you are not goal oriented then you should be. Try to think of any reasonable goal you have set for yourself long ago that didn't come to fruition in some way or another. Chances are you won't find many.
Yet keep in mind, long term goals can have their drawbacks. When we think of goals we think of things we do today, edging  us to a desired effect sometime in the future. More importantly to consider, some goals can take years to achieve. So the question begs to be asked: what do we do with our days until our goals materialize into reality?

1. For every goal you have for tomorrow, allow yourself to complete at least one goal for today. It doesn't have to be one of those world changing event type goals, just any little thing you can do that makes you feel good at the end of the day.

2. Before you go to bed try to think of a few good things that happened to you today. Make that  a daily goal as well. It's always nice to relive those good things. If you need to, jot down those

3. Dissect those long term goals into smaller pieces. Try to tie those big ones into a series of daily goals. If for example, your goal is to learn a foreign language, set a daily goal to learn a few new words that day. This way, instead of saying "I don't know this language at all" you can say "I learned a few more words today"

Daily goals help us to avoid looking at things negatively. They keep us from losing hope when our long term goals are far away. Daily goals are "what is" as opposed to "what isn't." Since what isn't rarely gets any of us to our ultimate destination, perhaps we would be well served to use today to it's fullest. Then we can live in the "what is."
