How to drastically increase your creativity

Part 1 Word Association 
 
This is the first in a series of ideas to increase your creativity. 
 
The number one question fiction writers receive is "Where do you get your ideas?" Their answers vary from writer to writer, from "I have no idea" to humorous ones like "The idea Fairy puts them under my pillow at night when I sleep." But almost without exception, these creative people find it difficult or impossible to answer this question.
The simple solution for anyone who wants to become more creative is to realize that creativity comes from everywhere and  everything. If it can be thought or seen or touched, it can be changed in our brains to suite our particular vision. All we need is a little practice.

Word Association


   Word association is a great tool for generating ideas and creativity but it's often used in it's most simplest form, drastically limiting the benefit we receive from it. Here is an example:

  There is nothing particularly creative about words by themselves such as the above list. They are just words. It's when one thing interacts with another thing, or series of things, that true creativity can blossom. 
 
Combine simple ideas to increase creativity



    To get the most out of this technique, make as many short creativity lists as you can. Combine the words from your short list into more complex and creative themes. Besides being easy and fun, this creativity technique can produce some pretty good ideas.
